A FANTASTIC FALL
As we head towards Labor Day weekend, Fall is not far behind and with it comes the best weather of the year and ideal conditions to go out and explore the Island.
When autumn arrives in Coronado, refreshing bay and ocean breezes sweep over the island, complementing the Crown City’s warm fall temperatures, welcoming vibe and relaxed pace.
As the beach crowds diminish, it becomes easier for locals and day-trippers to enjoy a number of fun-filled, safe outdoor activities and relaxed outdoor dining options.
A typical September would bring with it the extremely popular, twenty-year-old tradition, the MainStreet Association’s Garden Party.
This is an annual fund-raising event to support the beautiful garden maintenance on Orange Ave.’s median.
The event is a gathering of over 400 full-time and part-time residents and includes a Silent Auction and an exclusive sampling of food from local restaurants.
This being the topsy-turvy year it is, the Mainstreet Association is weighing their options on how they will be doing this fundraising safely, so keep an eye on coronadomainstreet.com/gardenparty for updates.
Starting in September, a new program called, “Spice It Up Coronado” from the Coronado Public Library will begin. Every month, the library will invite community members to explore different spices used in dishes around the world. Registrants will pick up the monthly spice selection at the library, cook with it, and join other food enthusiasts on Zoom to talk about what they made, what they might like to try next, and their thoughts about the spice. This month’s meeting will be held via Zoom on Friday, September 25 at 2 pm. You can register for the program online through the library event calendar.
Thankfully, the Covid numbers appear to be heading in the right direction and restrictions are loosening up for businesses to continue their road back to recovery. With a bit of good luck and everyone taking the right steps to keep themselves and others safe, the back end of 2020 just might be something special!
