AIN’T NO GLOOM IN MY JUNE! With all restrictions lifted on the 15th in California, June is going to be a huge month to get out and socialize again! It’s time for days on the beach, picnics, get-togethers, and getting the boats on the water. Coronado Promenade Concerts at Spreckels Park is set to return with musical acts from genres of classic rock, soul, yacht rock and country! This year’s summer concert series will start on the first day of summer, June 20th and then be held every Sunday (except the 4th of July) through September 5 with a request submitted and pending approval from the city council to hold one additional show on September 12. The Free Summer Shuttle along Orange Avenue will kickoff Sunday, June 6th at 1pm with an event at Spreckels Park attended by City leaders, supporters and sponsors of the program. Beginning June 6, residents and guests will be able to ride buses along the Metropolitan Transit System’s 904 Route from the Coronado Shores and City Hall to the Coronado Ferry Landing and Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa. The Free Summer Shuttle will run in 15-minute intervals through Labor Day, Sept. 6, daily from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and one hour later on Friday and Saturday. A big event I’ll be planning for the end of the month is the opening of a Plein Air Exhibit in the Coronado Spreckels Library Meeting Room. This exhibit will help illustrate that the library is so much more than books and showcase art from the San Diego Plein Air Painters Meeting Group. This will run to September 15th with the grand opening of the exhibit from 2-4pm on Sunday, June 27th with refreshments and a Plein Air demonstration. Stop by and check out the beautiful art and library and then go get your groove on at the Promenade Concerts in the Park! |
