Now that local shops are able to reopen for curbside service and the beaches are open for active play, it’s a good idea to stop by Emerald City Surf Shop to update your apparel and get all your surf necessities.
They are now open daily from 11am-5pm.
Named for Coronado’s evergreen barrels and ties to Wizard of Oz author L. Frank Baum, Emerald City opened in 1988. This surf & skate shop is extremely knowledgable on all the latest industry trends and technology and is a vital contributor to the community.
Emerald City was founded by two local brothers, Kelly and Larry Kraus, who found their passion for skateboarding and surfing way before it was popular.
Originally natives of Imperial Beach, they eventually migrated north to Coronado in the late 70’s, where they would go from surfing big waves at the Tijuana Sloughs to getting barrels at Coronado’s heavy surf spot, Outlet.
They traveled the world’s oceans, gained knowledge and contacts, and turned their dream of owning a surf shop in their hometown into a reality.
This family-owned shop was created by surfers, is operated by surfers and caters to surfers of any skill level.
