This past week, Mark had the privilege of flying to Lake Tahoe with a mother whose daughter, Lucy Ann Piccinini, is bravely battling a glioma tumor. Together, we surprised Lucy in the middle of her 5th-grade classroom with a Random Act of Kindness from the This Time Tomorrow Foundation.
The moment we walked in, her students erupted in cheers, the kind that fills the room and your heart at the same time. Lucy had recently received heartbreaking news that she had to pause her chemo pill due to liver damage, so this gift couldn’t have come at a better time. The love and support that surrounded her that day was overwhelming, and it was impossible not to feel the power of community and compassion.
Earlier this year, in May, we had the opportunity to deliver another Random Act of Kindness to Sharlene Tehroni, who had just moved in with her son’s family shortly after they welcomed their second child. The timing was perfect as the financial gift brought some much-needed relief and joy to a family doing their best to navigate a tough season.
Both experiences reminded us just how impactful these moments can be… for the recipients, of course, but also for everyone involved in making them happen. What begins as a donation or a simple act of generosity ends up touching far more hearts than you could ever imagine.
That’s why Samantha and I have decided not to take a year off as we originally planned. Instead, O’BrienFest will return on March 14th, 2026, and will become an annual tradition. We want to keep this momentum going by continuing to rally our Coronado and San Diego community around giving, kindness, and music-driven hope.
We’re endlessly grateful to our friends Cory Zimmerman and Tony Goff, co-founders of the This Time Tomorrow Foundation, for creating this incredible platform that allows us to bring joy, relief, and connection to those who need it most.
