Closing night at the Coronado Island Film Festival brings the annual showing of “Some Like It Hot” on the beach at the Hotel del Coronado.
This film was ranked #1 as the top comedy of all time by the American Film Institute in its “100 years… 100 laughs poll”. Many scenes were shot at the Hotel del Coronado, which appeared in the film, as the “Seminole Ritz Hotel” in Miami, as it fit the era of the 1920’s and was relatively close to Hollywood.
During filming, fans in Coronado watched Marilyn Monroe with great enthusiasm, screaming and cheering for her. Monroe occasionally engaged the locals, often reminding them to be quiet.
It should be a fun night!
