Centennial Park offers without a doubt the best view of downtown San Diego in the city, sweeping panoramas from a large lawn with benches, a rose garden & a small beach.
Beyond the skyline, the Midway and marina are visible from the park and it’s a great spot to watch the boats go by.
This spot was also the first site of the Coronado Ferry Landing and the original Coronado ferry ticket booth remains as a historical artifact.
The ferry was first designed to transport horses and buggies; later ferries took automobiles across the bay. This vital link to downtown San Diego ran from 1886 to 1969, the year the Coronado Bay Bridge finally opened.
