Coronado Flower Lady

So happy to see that the Coronado Flower Lady cart in Rotary Plaza will be open for Mother’s Day!!!

The Coronado Flower Lady is an iconic flower stand with a 36-year residency on the island, they accommodate locals and tourists alike and will be practicing safety and social distancing as they navigate reopening.

Widely known as The Coronado Flower Lady, Shanel Albert is synonymous with flowers in Coronado and she is also the designer/owner-operator for Florabella, which is a full-service floral boutique opening a new location soon behind the Brigantine.

Customers will be able to order online and pick-up as well as allowing walks-ins to purchase smaller bouquets.

Whether it’s for Mother’s Day, a “just because” bouquet, a large scale wedding and everything in between, the Coronado Flower Lady has got you covered.

Banners displayed along the Orange Avenue medians in the Coronado Commercial Corridor provide support for local businesses who may be struggling during this time and encouragement for residents required to stay at home. There are three banners total:

Coronado We Stay Informed Together
Coronado We Stay Home Together
Coronado We Take Out Together

The Coronado Chamber of Commerce came up with the idea and the City created the messages and signs.

Yes, I see the irony of taking a pic in front of the “Stay Home Together” banner!

Masks from Fiveloaves Twofish

The proprietors of local children’s clothing store, Fiveloaves Twofish did a wonderful thing by soliciting donations to manufacture and distribute masks for free to every resident of Coronado that was in need of one.

The local charitable response was overwhelming and they were able to quickly create the masks and started distributing to residents today by safely passing them out through car windows.

The line to get one was around the block! Thanks to all those involved in this amazing effort!

I want to thank the tireless workers at Von’s – Coronado for their brave and hard work during the Coronavirus pandemic.

They are taking the right precautions to make sure customers are able to safely shop for their essentials and are heroically handling their dangerous work situation with great attitudes and smiles on their faces.

Ensuring all our neighbors’ needs are met, they’ve set aside store hours from 7:00 am to 9:00 am Monday-Friday for senior citizens and other at-risk members of our community such as pregnant women or those with compromised immune systems

Laundry Lounge is Coronado’s finest and only Laundromat. They feature state of the art, efficient, and “green” washers and dryers that take credit card!

Even if you have a washer & dryer at home the Laundry Lounge is a wonderful, legal excuse to get out of the house (as long as you keep six feet of separation, which is approx the width of three washers. I measured it, I’m bored)!
