Blue Wave Surf Academy

My friend, Luke is having a blast at Blue Wave Surf Camp this week!

Blue Wave is a new surfing camp being offered this summer through the Recreation Department of the City of Coronado.

The camp is offered weekly throughout the summer, Monday thru Friday and is geared towards kids aged 6-18 with special attention given to novice surfers. The camp includes surfing instruction for all levels and many ocean activities such as bodysurfing, snorkeling, offshore paddling and the kids also learn about marine biology, oceanography, and beach safety.

Coronado Lawn Bowling Club offers “Twilight Open Bowling”

The Coronado Lawn Bowling Club offers “Twilight Open Bowling” at 6pm on many Thursdays* this summer!

Coronado residents and their friends who have never tried lawn bowling can arrive at any time between 6 p.m. and sunset, learn to play the game and begin playing immediately with other beginning bowlers.

No reservations needed and no fees, just show up in flat-soled shoes and have a great time. The CLBC will even provide the equipment!

Buffy and I took a stroll along the beach behind the Hotel Del to check out their newly landscaped and re-opened, Windsor Lawn.

It’s as beautiful as ever and now includes a couple rows of steps that are perfect for sitting and taking in the magnificent view of the ocean.

Creek to Bay Cleanup

Today is the 19th Annual Creek to Bay Cleanup and I’m proud to say that Coronado gets into this event in a big way!

This is the largest environmental cleanup in San Diego County during Earth Week! Last year, volunteers self-reported 15,682 total pounds of litter removed in one day and the goal this year is to remove 30,000 pounds of litter in a single day.

You can join the efforts by cleaning up litter and pollution in your neighborhood. Start by registering at https://creektobay.org/ then choose a block, a park, beach, canyon or neighborhood near you to help clean. You just need a bucket, gloves and some kind of litter grabber.

25th Annual Jim Laslavic Charity Golf Tournament

We’re less than a week away from the 25th Annual Jim Laslavic Charity Golf Tournament at the Coronado Municipal Golf Course on Friday, March 19, 2021.

The Coronado Rotary Club’s annual golf tournament is a yearly fund-raising event for the club’s Foundation which supports over sixty projects in town each year with financial grants.

Entry fee includes green fees, a luncheon, beverages and a “Goody” bag. They’ll also have prizes for closest to the flag on par threes and two chances to win a big $10,000 Hole-in-One prize on hole 9 and a $10,000 award to a random draw participant who sinks a putt from 50 feet.
