Candy Cane Lane

Coronado has its own Candy Cane Lane!

Located in a cul-de-sac on the 600 block of Country Club Lane, it has been a Christmas tradition here since the early 1960s.

Residents on the street decorate their lawns with large painted plywood displays to create a Christmas wonderland down the whole block. Some yards are traditional like Santa and his elves and some are more playful with Disney, Pixar and Sesame Street Characters.

Swing by and take a slow-moving, Covid safe drive to view the spectacle.

Exciting news!

Last night, the Coronado City Council confirmed and appointed me to be a Commissioner on the Coronado Cultural Arts Commission!

My responsibility will be to advocate for the many and diverse art and cultural components in Coronado and ensure and improve the health of the arts community.

The Cultural Arts Commission recognizes and encourages groups and organizations that enrich Coronado life by acquiring and providing access to cultural and artistic works of art and a variety of performing arts offerings.

I’m excited to start my term in January and look forward to learning from and working with the strong team already in place!

2020 Coronado Island Film Festival

Last evening, I was honored to be a part of the opening night of the 2020 Coronado Island Film Festival and a studio pre-release showing of Nomadland at the South Bay Drive-In.

What a knockout this film is! It’s the early Oscar favorite after winning the top prize at both the Venice and Toronto Film Fests.

This year’s Coronado Film Fest is a little different with the majority of programming virtual because of the ever-changing restrictions of the COVID pandemic, but the commitment to celebrate the magic of film is as strong as ever.

You can participate and enjoy the rest of this year’s films, compelling panels, and special engagements via the CIFF Virtual Portal where you’re in control of watch what you want to watch during the festival, Nov 11-15.

Sunset Park

Sunset Park is a beautiful and large expanse of grass located directly across the street from Coronado’s Dog Beach.

Happily, it has been approved to again open for group recreational events including pop warner, soccer and lacrosse practices.

Many families in Coronado love spending time and picnicking on the extremely comfortable grass of Sunset Park and now that the group activities are allowed residents can enjoy it to its fullest!

GALLERIA has been located in the Shops at El Cordova Plaza along Orange Ave. for over 20 years.

They deal in luxury merchandise including original oil on canvas paintings, limited edition giclees, top quality bronze statues and luxurious furniture.

Over the years, they have collaborated with several up and coming artists, as well as established talents, from all around the world and are proud to play a prominent role in getting them and their artwork the love and attention it deserves.

The Gallery & Hemp Life

The Gallery and Hemp Life is now open right next to Serrano’s on Orange Avenue!

They feature a wide range of gummies, lip balms, massage oils, dog treats, patches, drops, and more for humans and animals alike and they are kosher certified!

The space also serves as an art gallery and going forward they plan to have an art show every few months and feature a variety of artists from around the San Diego area.
