THE HEART OF SUMMER
Obviously, Coronado is amazing year-round but when we get into August we’ve hit the heart of summer and the ideal weather that comes with it… Plenty of sun and perfect temperatures!
We are so blessed that we can enjoy the beach safely and everyone seems to be respectful of each other by spacing out and wearing masks when walking to and from their spot in the sand.
August also brings big changes and openings at the Hotel Del. The resort is now open and operating at a reduced capacity to ensure physical distancing and compliance with local and state guidelines.
Guests at “The Del” can enjoy the beautiful new main pool and there are really cool new cabana guestrooms surrounding it with private balconies or covered terraces that have lounge seating and fire features.
The Beach + Taco Shack, Serẽa, On the Rocks and Sundae’s are open and have been modified to accommodate physical distancing, but the big news is the newly renovated Babcock & Story Bar and the Sun Deck will be re-opening later this month! In other Island news, unfortunately, July saw a resurgence of Covid cases in the area and local restaurants were once again forced to adapt quickly to new guidelines.
In a move that again showed pro-business support by the City of Coronado, an outdoor dining venue at Spreckels Park was established for dining Friday through Sunday’s to support local restaurants.
Residents can make a reservation by calling the Chamber of Commerce (619-435-9260) and then all they have to do is pick up a takeout meal from their favorite restaurant on the Island and enjoy it at the outdoor dining setup.
It’s a fantastic way to help businesses who are struggling during this unprecedented time.
Onsite staff welcome and seat guests, sanitize tables and chairs and make sure everyone adheres to all operating protocols required by the San Diego County Health & Human Services Agency.
This summer (and year) have been anything but normal but it’s great to see businesses and locals doing their best to protect one another while still enjoying the plentiful activities Coronado offers.
